Recipe for Bhaang Thandai
Ingredients
- Water :- 1 ½ liter
- Sugar :- 1 ½ cups
- Milk :- 1 cup
- Almonds :- 1 tbsp
- Watermelon/cantaloupe seeds :- 1 tbsp
- Poppy seeds :- ½ tbsp
- Aniseed :- ½ tbsp
- Cardamom powder :- ½ tsp
- Peppercorns :- 1 tsp
- Bhang :- 15
- Dried or fresh rose petals :- ¼ cup
Cooking Directions
Half a litre of water should be poured into a pan and sugar should be added to it. It should be soaked for 2 hours.
In another bowl, all the other ingredients should be soaked in water for nearly 2 hours. Then, the soaked ingredients should be ground to a fine paste.
The remaining water should be added to the paste and a strong muslin container should be used for straining and extracting the liquid. The extract should be put and into a vessel and this straining should be done till the paste becomes dry.
Sugar syrup and milk should be added to the strained mixture.
It should be chilled in a refrigerator for about 2-3 hours before it is served.
