Walking Alone
Welcome to this halcyon day
with rays of fire flashing
upon a lazy river
grasshoppers and butterflies
a trail through trees and clear blue skies
I am walking arm and arm
with the shadow of a ghost.
It was her i loved the most
like Adam and his Eve
eyes open to believe
but,
Her love was as real as smoke in a mirror
the rainbow and the treasure it leads to.
Like Narcissus' own reflection
she was unattainable
and dangerous to pursue.
So I take in this halcyon day
with rays of fire flashing
upon a lazy river
