India and Saudi Arabia held their first talk on defence ties
The Joint Committee on defence cooperation from Saudi Arabia and India met for creation of defence ties on 11 September 2012. Decisions for this establishment of joint committees was decided during the visit of Indian defence minister A.K. Antony to Saudi Arabia and his meet with the Crown Prince and defence minister of Saudi Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud in February 2012. The 11 member team from Saudi Arabia was headed by the Chief of the Armed Forces Operations of Saudi Arabia Maj Gen Suleiman Saleh Al-Khalifa. The Indian side was headed by the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence. Both the sides met for formulation of the program that can enhance the areas of cooperation between the defence establishments of two nations.

Delhi Government decided to impose a Blanket Ban on Plastic Bags
The Delhi government on 10 September 2012 decided to impose a blanket ban on the manufacture, sale, storage and use of plastic bags in the national capital. The use of plastic cover pouches to pack magazines and invitation and greeting cards will also be prohibited.Following a Delhi High Court order, the government had in January 2009 imposed a ban on the use of plastic bags in various markets, shopping malls, hotels and hospitals but it has not produced any desired result.

Welspun finds the lenders for its 50 MW solar Project in Rajasthan
Welspun Energy declared that it was successful in finding the funds of Rs 355 crore for its 50 MW Solar Power Project in Rajasthan on 10 September 2012. Three public sector banks along with an infrastructure finance company came together to issue the loan for this long term project to the company. The project is expected to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2013.

Supreme Court directed the Government to re-fix the Pay Scale of Army Officers
The Supreme Court of India on 4 September 2012 directed the Union Government of India to re-fix the pay scale of army officers affected by the Fourth Pay Commission. It would now entail a payout of 1600 crore rupees to the exchequer. The Supreme Court also directed the government to pay interest at the rate of 6 per cent from 1January 2006, to all the officers, whether or not they have filed any petition before any of the High Courts or Benches of Armed Forces Tribunal

Supreme Court directed Sahara Group to refund 17400 Crore Rupees to their Investors
The Supreme Court of India on 31 August 2012 directed Sahara Group's two companies to refund around 17400 crore rupees to their investors within three months with 15 per cent interest. A bench of justices K S Radhakrishnan and J S Khehar directed Securities and Exchange Board of India, SEBI, to take action against the companies of Sahara India Real Estate Corporation and Sahara Housing Investment Corporation, if they fail to refund the money. The apex court allowed the regulatory body to attach properties and freeze bank accounts of these two companies if they did not comply with its order.

SAT Declined Accepting Sahara Investor Money, Also Dismissed The Plea
The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) on 29 November 2012 dismissed appeals of two Sahara companies- Sahara India Real Estate Corp (SIRECL) and Sahara Housing Investment Corp (SHICL) against SEBI. Sahara wanted SAT to intervene in the issue of refunding the money of investors which is aggregating to around 24000 crore Rupees.

Usain Bolt won the IAAF World Athlete of the Year Award 2012 for the fourth time and United States sprinter Allyson Felix won women's World Athlete of the Year Award 2012 on 24 November 2012 during the IAAF's 100th Anniversary Celebration. The Jamaican sprinter Bolt had won for defending his gold medals in the 100 and 200 meter races of the summers? Olympic Games, he also won the same award previously in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
