Subject : Younis Khan announces retirement from ODI cricket
Veteran Pakistan batsman and the country's all-time leading Test run-scorer Younis Khan announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket on Wednesday, following controversy over his inclusion in the limited-overs team. Younis, 37, said that he would play his last ODI match today in Abu Dhabi against the English side. He said that he had taken the decision to retire after consultation with family and friends.

The veteran batsman announced his retirement following controversy over his selection in the one-day team against England. He was recalled to the Pakistan squad for series against England last week after playing a ODI in the World Cup in March 2015. Since 2013, the senior middle-order batsman has been in record-breaking form in Test cricket, but has been in and out of the ODI squad, playing just 11 matches in the past 2.5 years.

Congrats to Younis on a very good career in ODIs, which implies we would like to see more of Younis in the longer version, which is his expertise. We enjoy watching Younis in tests. Another 800 odd runs, and he is into 10k club! Wishing Younis another couple of successful test years.

Younis, 37, played 264 matches in an ODI career that spanned 15 years. With 7240 runs, Younis is currently sixth on the list of highest run-getters for Pakistan in ODIs. Earlier this month, he overtook Javed Miandad's record to become Pakistan's highest run-scorer in Tests.

"I am really pleased to announce that today I am retiring from ODI cricket after deliberation with my family, wife, and close friends," Younis said. "I feel satisfied and grateful to almighty for showering numerous blessings on me. It is one of the his great blessings that I, by my own will, have taken this decision to retire from ODI cricket after having retired from T20 cricket already."
