Recipe for Radish Kofta


  • For Kofta:
  • White Radish 600 gms (gourd can also be used)
  • Gram flour 35 gms (enough to hold grated radish in a ball)
  • Green chilies 2
  • Coriander a few
  • Carom (Ajwain) 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 1/4 tsp
  • Oil for frying
  • For gravy:
  • Cooking oil 3 tbsp
  • Onions 2 medium
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Ginger-garlic paste 1, 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Green cardamom 4

Cooking Directions

Peel and wash the radish.

Grate it and squeeze as much juice out of it as you can.

Add chili powder, salt, coriander and green chilies and enough gram flour to make small balls of radish.

Mix well and make small balls.

Heat oil and fry these koftas till they are golden brown.

To prepare gravy fry chopped onions in oil.

When golden add ginger-garlic paste.

Take this mixture out and put them in blender.

Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder in it and make puree.

Heat oil and add green cardamoms.

Fry and then add puree.

Keep frying till the oil leaves the sides of the pan.

Stir in yogurt.

Add 3 cups of water and let it cook till water reduces to 2 cups.

Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes then add koftas.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
