Recipe for Prawn Balti


  • 700 grams Tiger Prawns
  • 1 cup Prawn Stock
  • 1/4 cup white onions finely chopped
  • 2 tbsps Ginger Garlic Paste
  • required oil
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp whole Mustard Seeds
  • 3 Carrots pureed
  • 1/2 cup Cream
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 4 tbsps Tomato Puree
  • 1/2 cup Onion Puree

Cooking Directions

Heat the oil into a saucepan Add the whole seeds and cook until they sizzle and crackle, add the chopped onions and reduce the heat to low.

Cook onions until they turn into golden brown color.

Make a paste of ginger puree, garlic puree, Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, with a little water. Add to saucepan and stir well and fry for a couple of minutes.

Now add Tiger Prawns stir well. Add the carrot puree.

Mix Cream, Yogurt, Tomato Puree, Onion Puree, together in a bowl with the stock and pour into the saucepan and mix in well.Simmer for 10minutes. Stir occasionally.

Sprinkle the Garam masala and stir well for 2 minutes
