Recipe for Chicken Makhni (Butter Chicken)


  • Chicken boneless ½ kg
  • Ginger paste 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp (crushed)
  • Cream 1 packet (fresh)
  • Salt as required
  • White cumin 1 tsp
  • Green chili 6
  • Onion 1
  • Fresh red chili 4
  • Butter 4 tbsp
  • Oil ½ cup

Cooking Directions

Heat oil in a pan and fry the chopped onion till they turn light pink.

Now add the chicken pieces and fry well or until the oil floats.

When the water (left by the chicken) dries, add chopped ginger, crushed black pepper, cumin, and salt.

Cook for 2 minutes and add fresh cream and softened butter.

Cook for 2 minutes more on low flame.

Finally add green chilies and red chili, cover and simmer for 5 minutes.

Serve with chapattis.
