Recipe for Tawa Makhni Chicken (Griddle Butter Chicken)


  • Boneless chicken 500 gm
  • Whole red chili 6
  • Cumin 1 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp (crushed)
  • Salt to taste
  • Capsicum 1
  • Tomatoes 2 (medium)
  • Onions 2 (medium)
  • Yogurt ½ cup
  • Butter 100 gm
  • Oil 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

Cut boneless chicken in small cubes.

Roast cumin and whole red chillies in pan for 2 minutes.

Heat oil on a griddle (tawa) and add finely chopped ginger and fry till golden.

Now add chicken on griddle, cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.

Then add black pepper, salt, ground coriander and yogurt to chicken.

Now cut tomatoes, capsicum and onions in medium cubes.

Then add butter, onions and capsicum in pan and fry for a while.

Add this mixture to chicken on griddle.

Now add tomatoes.

Sprinkle roasted cumin and whole red chillies. Mix well.

Griddle butter chicken is ready to serve.
