Recipe for Iranian Grilled Chicken


  • 1 whole chicken with skin.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 chopped tomato1 chopped onion
  • Pinch of saffron
  • Small bunch of chopped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Cooking Directions

Marinate the chicken with salt, pepper and cinnamon, keep aside.

Mix the butter with the tomato paste, apply this mixture to the chicken.

Place the chicken in baking pan, add onion, tomatoes and coriander.

Mix the saffron and honey with water and add to the chicken.

Cover with aluminum foil make a hole in it to let the steam escape. Keep in the oven for 45 minutes.

Remove the aluminum foil and continue cooking for 15 minutes more.
