Subject : Karachi Traffic Police to Impose Fines on Bikers Without Helmets
The traffic in the metropolis of Pakistan, titled as ‘the city of lights’, Karachi, has surged to an increasingly high number. A number of motor vehicles seen on the road contribute to the insane traffic problem of Karachi and that is also accredited to the lack of cheap and widely available public transport. Keeping in mind these factors, it’s justified to see a number of bikes that we do. But the cons that come with a number of bikes is that you are exposed to a higher risk of accidents. According to the last available figure published by Karachi City Traffic police, average five road accidents happen in Karachi every day. Mind you, that these are just the accidents that have been reported to the Karachi Police. There are possibly more that go unnoticed.

It is obvious that bike riders are more prone to accidents. And despite that threat, there are only a handful of people who take safety seriously enough to wear a helmet while riding. And the accompanied passengers wear it even lesser. Hence to curb the accidents pertaining to motorcycles, the Deputy Inspector General Traffic Police of Karachi has issued a strict order to stop and fine all riders who are not wearing helmets.Traffic wardens are instructed to strictly stop and place a fine on such riders, in order to encourage them to start wearing the helmets.
