Subject : Singer Nouman Javaid denies attempting suicide
Contrary to earlier reports of a car crash or possible suicide, Pakistani singer Nouman Javaid took to social media to state that he is recovering from a coma after a gas leakage incident in his room, which landed him in the hospital. The 34-year-old Lahore-based singer was taken to Ittefaq hospital Friday night and was immediately admitted in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU). “It was not a suicide attempt,” the singer clarified. “Just faulty connection.” A number of his friends in the entertainment industry earlier called the incident a suicide attempt, owing to the “struggles” he was facing in his personal life. The hospital’s administrative staff did not corroborate the claim, and instead stated that the singer had been in a car accident. A member of the administrative staff of the hospital told The Express Tribune, “He was hospitalized in our facility for two days, due to severe injuries and has now been discharged.” A source in the nursing staff, however, confirmed rumours that the singer had attempted to commit suicide. “It was a clear case of suicide but no one has been allowed say anything in this matter. It was treated like a suicide case and nothing else,” the nursing staff member at the Surgical ICU told The Express Tribune. Javaid’s wife, singer Fariha Parvez refused to comment on the matter and her brother spoke on her behalf, “You should ask Nouman what happened to him and not Fariha,” he said. Javaid and Fariha married earlier this year in an intimate ceremony after seeing each other for a while. Nouman came to the forefront of the music scene in 2009 after his solo track Darde-Tanhai made it to Bollywood with the film Jashnn.
