Subject : Pakistan Issues A Fatwa Against Madhur Bhandarkar's Film "CALENDAR GIRLS"
According to a report the makers of Calendar Girls have struck a chord with Pakistani nationals in a bad way. Apparently the film that is set to release on 25th September and the Pakistan government has already issued a Fatwa against a the film due to the content which they say portrays the country in bad light. One of the girls in the film features as being of Pakistani origin and delivers a dialogue ‘Pakistani ladkiyan bhi utne hi bold kaam karti hai jitni baki ladkiya karti hai balki kabhi kabhi usse zyada bhi.’ (Pakistani girls do equally bold work as other girls; and sometimes more than them too). The Pakistani government feels the dialogue portrays Pakistani girls and culture in false pretense and the movie will be a bad influence on young girls in their country. This has upset the Pakistani officials who have decided to ban Calendar Girls in Pakistan.
