The Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi is pleased to organize Mini-Symposium on 30th November, 2017 at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi from 10:00 am to 04:00 p.m. This event is regarding the world diabetes day, focused on Living with Diabetes and Molecular identification systems specifically DNA sequencing (Sanger sequencing & Next Generation sequencing) for diagnosis, prognostication and individualization of specific therapy.

Event comprises of lectures by outstanding experts of Diabetes/ Endocrinological disorders, Genomics and Genetics, followed by Hands on training on “Rapid Microbial Identification Systems”

Diabetes is a serious complex condition which can affect the entire body. Diabetes requires daily self-care and if complications develop, diabetes can have a significant impact on quality of life and can reduce life expectancy. However, genetic analysis base diagnosis can improved specific individualized therapy. In addition, Rapid Microbial Identification provides an effective system for the management of patients with diabetic foot infection provide protection against amputation or life threatening complications by rapid and accurate identification of a pathogen. Also, in the case of Islet transplantation, it is helpful in monitoring microbial contamination rates of islet cell products.
